History in film.

The role of historical events in film has been a topic for debate. professional historians fear that many people will learn about their past from popular culture like films and television. But in some cases historical truth could be sacrificed for the dramatic effect. Films seeks to tell stories. Historical events provides material that can  be used for films.

Historical films can introduce people who are not knowable about history to seek out the reality of the past.  The film 300 wasn’t a totally truthful telling about the conflict between ancient Greece and ancient Persia. But it allowed people to be aware of these events.  It will hopefully encourage them to seek out the truth about the Greek Persian wars from other sources.
