Scottish independence?

I predicted in the past when the Brexit vote was happening that a vote to leave could see the end of the UK as a political unit. Now the Scottish government has announced a vote on a hard Brexit or independence. I have always believed that economics has weakened the UK. England and especially the city of London benefits from its position as the centre of international finance. The rest of the UK has suffered. The Conservative Party is now an English party. Scotland has a majority who supports social democracy. When Labour ruled Britain the Scottish people could support Labour. But more Scottish people feel that they need to go independent if they want a social democratic country. The Scottish Independence Party claims to be a social democratic party. Their nationalism is rooted in civic nationalism. This means that anyone of any race or religion who feels Scottish are Scottish.

If Scotland goes independent the position of the North is open to question. The Unionists have strong links with Scotland. Like Scotland the majority of the people in the North voted to remain in the North.
