Budget 2017.

The budget is announced for next year. I think it was a missed opportunity. With Brexit and an uncertain international economic market a prudent budget is what Ireland needed.

The arts and sports did badly while sheep farmers were looked after. This budget was a mixture of neo liberal ideology and securing votes to keep this government in power.

Using the available money this government used tax cuts and welfare rises in a scattergun approach. A little bit of money was given but no reform or thought out plan for the public services.

We don’t have a money tree but it was possible to forcus on housing, childcare and other problem.that the economy faces without breaking the bank. Voters want and need public services that serve the public. That opportunity was lost in this budget.

This new politics isn’t that new at all. maybe this government prefers giving us another cup of coffee instead of improved public services. They prefer tax cuts to a better Ireland.
