Jo Cox MP RIP. Local democracy and bin collection.

The murder of Jo Cox MP is beyond party politics. The level of political debate has worsened in recent years. Personal attacks has replaced debate over policy. This murder is an attack on our democracy. It must be resisted.  People have different views on how a country is run. Personalised attacks has no place in our democracy. As someone involved in party politics myself I was deeply upset by the murder of Jo Cox MP. On a personal level it is worse for her husband, children, family and friends.

The recent issue over bin collection raises many questions. For local authorities to allow private companies to run bin collections has it problems. Democratic control is gone and a private monolopy that seeks profit instead of public service means that a conflict over environmental policy and the profit that the company seeks. Public waste should be under the control of locally elected cllrs of the people.
