General election 2016

The people have spoken. It was a bad result for the Labour Party nationally. In 2011 we were the 2nd biggest party. In 2016 we were reduced to 7 seats. It is time that we need to humbly listen to the voters. I am ready for the challenge.

In 1918 Sein Fein replaced the old Irish National Party. In 1932 Fianna Fail became the biggest party. In 2011 Fine Gael replaced Fianna Fail as the biggest party. In 2016 the flux in politics continues. I think the future shape of Irish politics hasn’t ended yet.

We as a party need to reconnect with the voters. We need to focus on the economic needs of the people. This is a challenge that the members and the supporters of the Labour Party are ready for.
