France a reflection

The terrorist attacks in France that saw journalists and others killed was an attack on human civilization by vicious reactionaries. We must remember that the 1st policeman killed was a Muslim himself. This isn’t about religion. What we are seeing is a modern form of fascism. Fascism must be rejected and confronted and defeated. The march in Paris showed that the world rejects any attack on freedom and democracy. I hope that the French National Front don’t benefit from this attack. If they do well in future elections then one group of reactionaries would benefit from the actions of another group of reactionaries. An ethical foreign policy is good for our national security as well as being good for the soul.

In an era where people of different religions and different moral values live together it is important for social peace that the state is neutral and secular. I don’t want religious wars. French Jews felt under attack in France. Anti semiticism exist and it must be rooted out of our society.

Politics seems to be in flux in Ireland. New parties and groups of independents are being formed. We must ask what type of society and economy do we want? The dangers of deflation or falling prices may face the global economy. I believe that economics is central to politics. I believe that social democracy or the social market would serve the people. The present neo liberal model of unregulated markets only serve the minority of bankers and some big business.
